Live Music in St. Augustine is A Stone’s Throw from Our Inns

Listening to live music as it flows through the quaint streets of St. Augustine is just another great reason to lodge with the St. Augustine Historic Inns. Sure, the Inns’ downtown location offers an unparalleled ambiance of peace and luxury as well as the option to walk to shops, attractions, restaurants and bars. However, what better way to pair your picture-perfect vacation than with a variety of great music.

Whether you plan on spending the day at your inn snuggled up with a book, taking in the sites and attractions on a walk with your pet (don’t forget we have pet-friendly bed and breakfasts too), or stopping for a bite to eat, rest assured you’ll be able to hear the beats and voices of local and national artists.

Although you don’t have to go far from your Inn to find live music, we’ve broken down a few of the most popular places in St. Augustine where you’ll find it.

Live music in St. Augustine includes beats you can boogie to

Before we tell you where to go, we should let you know what to expect. St. Augustine’s live music scene is just as varied as the people who visit the city. In fact, no matter how offbeat your preference in music is, there is sure to be a venue featuring those tunes. On the other hand, you’ll hear your favorite rock, folk, and jazz classics playing as well.

Enjoy the classics

Much of the live music in St. Augustine is played by local musicians. For example, Elizabeth Roth is a well-loved guitarist and vocalist who frequently performs at downtown venues playing popular classical rock pieces as well as songs from her solo song list.

Bob Patterson is another popular singer-songwriter who plays live music in the downtown area. Paired with a 12-string guitar, he takes you on a trip of the “real Florida” and incorporates humor as well as the folklore of the people in his songs.

Enjoy modern beats

However, if you’re looking for more modern beats, you’ll find a variety of bands often visit St. Augustine. An example of these out of town performers include Monroeville who plays a blend of folk, bluegrass, energetic country, and alternative music as well as GREYE, a progressive and independent band with powerful indie and rock songs. You can find this variety of free music most Friday or Saturday nights at the Colonial Oak Music Park.

Events with Live Music

So, you’re getting ready to leave your Inn on a weekend night, but you aren’t sure where to go. Don’t worry if you aren’t interested in sitting down for a meal or drinks, you can still enjoy live music. In fact, there are a few ongoing events happening in St. Augustine where you can count on there being live music. These include:

  • Various bands and performers playing concerts at the Colonial Oak Music Park.
  • The First Friday Art Walk Recital which take place most months and feature classical music at the Cathedral Basilica.
  • If you’re here during the Summer, be sure to check out the lineup for the Concerts in the Plaza, a free concert series that runs every Thursday evening between Memorial Day and Labor Day (weather permitting).
  • Additionally, at various times of the year there are festivals taking place in the downtown area that feature live music. Check them out here.

Bars and Restaurants Often Playing Live Music

Although you’ll find that most of the bars and restaurants downtown play live music regularly, the list below includes some of the most popular venues.

  • Live music and outdoor seating fuse together to bring you a truly unparalleled dining experience at O.C. Whites Seafood & Spirits – and don’t get us started on their seafood-flared menu
  • Pizzalley’s Chianti Room is a modern, American pizza joint that often hosts live music on their outdoor porch. Eat a delicious Italian American meal with light beats playing in the background.
  • Prohibition Kitchen is a hidden, live music gem located on St. George Street. Peeking in from outside, you’d never expect the acoustic capabilities of this location to be possible. Grab a drink and enjoy live tunes or sit down for a five-star meal.
  • Wines, tapas, and live music, oh my! Sangrias has live music every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday evening. Sit inside or outdoors on their second-floor porch and enjoy live music while munching on tapas.
  • Often hosting open mics, Tradewinds Lounge plays live music all week long – that’s right, weeknights too. Be sure to grab a bite to eat before heading over, as the Tradewinds is a bar that doesn’t serve food.

We hope you’ve enjoyed this guide to finding live music in St. Augustine. Remember, the innkeepers at the St. Augustine Historic Inns can also provide you a wealth of information on the music scene in St. Augustine. Don’t hesitate to reach out to them before or during your vacation.
