Sponsors for this year’s Annual St Augustine Bed and Breakfast Holiday Tour plan to expand its legacy, helping the area homeless train for jobs in the world of food and hospitality. Partial proceeds of the tour this year will go to the First Coast Technical College’s Fresh Start Culinary Arts Program. The new program will provide training for qualified homeless participants leading to food service certification. The training is designed to assist graduates locate jobs in the fast growing food service/hospitality industry, or to transfer into FCTC’s culinary arts program.

The Annual Holiday Tour of St Augustine’s Bed and Breakfast Inns is a signature event of St Augustine Historic Inns (SAHI). Each year SAHI schedules the holiday tour for the second weekend in December. It is an opportunity for visitors to tour all of SAHI bed and breakfast inns in two days. This year December 8th and 9th are the days of touring from 1:00-5:00 pm. Each inn along the way is paired with a local culinary partner – often St Augustine’s most popular restaurants. To add to the excitement, each inn is decorated not only in striking holiday fashion but all according to the theme of the year. The 2012 tour supports the “Twelve Days of Christmas Theme” as each inn will literally finish a verse with its décor.

“The holiday tour is proud of its history of donating to local charities” says Victorian House Bed and Breakfast owner Marilyn Sexton. According to her “This year’s charity is the perfect fit as it coincides with the inn owner’s passion for culinary excellence”.

Fresh Start, which will operate in St Augustine, is based on a successful FCTC program for the homeless at the Clara White Mission in Jacksonville. To learn more about supporting Fresh Start contact Jill Miller at or at 904-547-3386. Information about First Coast Technical College is at
