Cozy Cafes

St. Augustine has a plethora of cafes in historic downtown. In fact, cafes are as common as history is in the ancient city. Furthermore, many of these cafes have comfy nooks where you can people-watch, snuggle up, and snack.

Perhaps, the most romantic of them is Crucial Coffee Cafe, which is nestled at the corner of Cuna and Charlotte Street. Camouflaged in plain sight, the delightful court provides a hidden and intimate area for lover’s (and coffee drinkers, of course.) It is often referred to as the Cafe Garden and is outlined by green shrubs, pales of flowers, petite palm trees, and other Floridian plant life; The refurbished tables are covered with a red linen tablecloth and bohemian pillows for sitting.

Amongst a variety of delicious treats, Crucial Cafe specializes in pies, chocolate pastries, unique coffee products, NY Italian ice and ice cream to die for! However, they aren’t the only delicious and picturesque hotspot to bring your loved one – if you love them a latte.

Café’s in historic downtown offering scrumptious desserts, rich coffee, and dreamy seating include; St. Augustine Coffee House, Spanish Bakery & Cafe, Moon and Sun Café, Relampago Coffee Lab, and Hot Shot Bakery N’ Café.

Starry-Eyed Dining

Aside from a handful of locations, historic downtown restaurants are all locally owned which means that each eatery has unique urban menus and venues. Start your meal with a summer watermelon and arugula salad at Collage, sit under a canopy of lush oaks at Harry’s, or share a meal in Lincolnville Historic District at Preserved. Wherever you dine in St. Augustine is sure to involve starry-eyed glances in a dimly-lit room with plenty of smooches!

Some of the most romantic eateries include: Raintree RestaurantCentro Restaurant and Piano Bar, La Pentola, and Columbia Restaurant.

Adventurous Love

Whether you want to rekindle a love affair or spark the very first flame, adrenaline may be exactly what your romantic getaway calls for. Although not many of us desire to leave the quaint streets and sunshiny parks of the historic district, these adventures are worth the drive.

Romance that Reaches New Heights

Nothing says, “kiss me,” quite like floating a few hundred feet above the Nation’s oldest city with your significant other. In fact, the Castillo de San Marco, Spanish colonial styled-architecture, and numerous cathedrals are breathtaking in general, so an aerial view is icing on the cake. But, don’t get caught smooching too long because the Old City Helicopter tour only begins in the historic district with options for getting a birds-eye-view of St. Augustine Lighthouse, Porpoise Point, and St. Augustine Beach.

If You Love Horsing Around

Romantic Horseback Riding

Whether you’re a seasoned rider or newbie, horseback riding is a unique and peaceful escapade that will certainly impress the object of your affections. Not to mention, Northern Florida forests are a wonderful setting for a date; the lingering smell of fresh pine, canopies of wild oaks, and periodical calls of wildlife are quite different from the salty scent and boat horns of the ancient city. One of the best ranches in St. Augustine is Haven Horse Ranch, a quiet horse sanctuary cozied on 26-acres of Florida terrain and located just a few miles west of I95. The wranglers at Haven Horse Ranch are friendly, patient, and knowledgeable!
