As part of the 500th Year Celebration of Florida’s discovery by Ponce de Leon, the city of St Augustine will launch many signature events to celebrate this mark in history throughout the year 2013. To kickoff the celebration, the recently-remodeled state-of-the-art Visitor Information Center (VIC) at 10 Castillo Drive features an exciting Picasso: Art and Arena Exhibition!

The exhibition will showcase 39 Pablo Picasso works of art from the Fundación Picasso, Museo Casa Natal of Málaga, Spain.

PICASSO: Art and Arena is a tribute to the Spanish cultural and artistic traditions that were introduced to Florida by Juan Ponce de Leon in 1513 and St Augustine by Don Pedro Menendez de Aviles in 1565. The exhibition is designed for families as well as the art connoisseur.

The famous art display is open for visitors inside the VIC from February 1st  through May the 11 from 9am – 5:00 pm daily with extended hours on Fridays and Saturdays. The exhibition is self-guided, but docent-led tours are available. Picasso Art & Arena is presented in English and Spanish.

Tickets are now on sale inside the VIC at the Old Town Trolley kiosk and at their many ticket outlets throughout downtown St Augustine.

Tickets are $10 for adults; $8 for seniors; $5 for children ages 7 to 12; $20 for a family of four; and free for children ages 6 and younger, military in uniform, and Flagler College students with identification. Tax will be added to these prices at the time of purchase.
