Marineland Dolphin Conservation Center

Marineland Florida was one of the first area attractions to open and has remained one of the best places to visit in the city if you love animals, especially dolphins! After opening in 1939, Marineland was billed as an "Oceanarium," a place where tourists could go watch live ocean animals swim and frolic in the sea. Today it is much the same as it was in the early days, only today Marineland has been completely renovated and its former circular 400,000 gallon aquarium and rectangular 450,000 gallon aquarium were demolished. In its early days Marineland fascinated tourists with dolphin shows and plenty to see through the Oceanarium, however it generates even more excitement as they now offer a "swim with the dolphins" experience and multiple other special educational programs. At Marineland, visitors can create memories that will last a lifetime and moments that many dream about. Featuring a 1.3 million gallon state of the art series of dolphin habitats, the Marineland Dolphin Conservation Center invites guests to get up close and personal with dolphins and experience all that these amazing creatures have to offer. A general admission ticket allows visitors to view the dolphins through 6 by 10 foot windows as they swim and play and interact with other guests; however other thrilling programs are offered. Swimming with the dolphins is the ultimate experience, and other programs like the Dolphin & Dog Training Seminar, Discover Dolphins, and Touch & Feed experiences are offered at additional prices.
Since reopening with renovated facilities in 2006, the Marineland Dolphin Conservation Center has become one of the best kept secrets in the Old City. Few realize that you can REALLY swim with the dolphins here and the hands on, up close encounters you can have with the dolphins is an opportunity you will not get anywhere else. Also, the center is available as a ceremonial site for Weddings, and couples who wed here love having the delightful dolphins as a part of their special day. Adjacent to the Marineland Dolphin Conservation Center is the University of Florida's Whitney Marine Lab which operates to research and study marine animals. Marineland is open daily from 8:30 to 4:30 except for Thanksgiving, November 26th, and Christmas Day.
