French toast

Kenwood Inn's French Toast Casserole


¾ cup brown sugar
4 eggs
1 ½ cup milk
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 tablespoon powdered sugar (Enough to sprinkle brown sugar white sugar and cinnamon)
1 loaf French bread sliced
1 cup chopped pecans (optional)
Powdered sugar for sprinkling
Mixed berries for top of toast (optional)
Butter for spreading

Melt butter and add brown sugar – stir to mix
Spread butter brown sugar mix on the bottom of a 9 x 13 baking pan
Beat eggs, milk, vanilla and powdered sugar
Lay down a layer of bread on top of brown sugar mix
Ladle ½ egg mixture on bread
Sprinkle with brown sugar, cinnamon and chopped pecans
Butter one side of remaining bread
Lay down second layer of bread with butter side up
Ladle remaining egg mixture
Sprinkle white sugar and cinnamon
Cover and refrigerate overnight
Bake at 325⁰ for 45 minutes or until done
