Built in 1891, the Old Jail was designed to look like a fine hotel (it has a front porch, and it’s pink!), but a real frontier-era jail inside. Henry Flagler located the Queen Anne-style building at a good distance from his gilded-era hotels. Costumed “deputies” show you the cell blocks, maximum-security area, and sheriff’s living quarters. Out back, the gallows are a reminder of a harsher time, and help explain why the Old Jail is now listed on the National Register of Haunted Places.
