So, you’ve just been on a fantastic Food Tour in St. Augustine or you’ve had dinner at on of our fine dining restaurants and you are so full that you can’t even think of any more food. Then 8:00pm rolls around and you could use just a little something. This is the perfect time for dessert in St Augustine. You really have two choices. Would you like to sit down in a restaurant and get some wine or coffee to go with your dessert or would you like to grab something fun and walk the streets of St. Augustine?
For a sit down dessert try one of these places.
Raintree Restaurant – 102 San Marco Avenue. This is also a great place for dinner and they offer many delectable treats. From a Warm Chocolate Dome Cake to Crème Brule, you really will not be disappointed in anything that you choose. Pair your dessert with a fine wine or a steaming cup of coffee. If you’d like something a little more adult you may want to try one of their indulgent Ice Cream Drinks like a Nutty Irishman that includes Bailey’s and Frangelico.
Harry’s Seafood – 46 Avenida Menendez. One of the most popular desserts on the menu here is the Bananas Foster – sliced bananas sautéed in dark rum and banana liqueur, poured over vanilla ice cream. Or you may want to try the Oreo Beignets – six classic Oreo cookies fried in a light fluffy “beignet” batter, topped with white chocolate bourbon sauce and a drizzle of chocolate syrup. Again, try pairing with a nice glass of wine or maybe one of their signature cocktails. Of course, they server coffee as well.
La Pentola – 58 Charlotte Street. For a wonderfully romantic dessert stop, try the courtyard at La Pentola for one of their homemade desserts. The wine selection here is also fantastic. Some of the scrumptious desserts available are the ever-popular Flan, their Crème Brule with Raspberry Cream Sauce, a warm Pistachio Torte or their Bread Pudding the Bailey’s Cream Sauce. If you’ve never been to La Pentola, this is a fantastic hidden gem in St. Augustine.
The Chocolate Turtle – 47 Cordova Street. The owners of this new establishment wanted to offer St. Augustine something sweet for the night crowd. This is a dessert and coffee bar. They also serve wine and beer. Check the selection when you stop in. Not only do they have a plethora of desserts and cakes to select from but also they will whip up a yummy coffee to go with it. Grab your honey and take your tasty treats out back to the secluded courtyard. The pastry chef is in house, so the treats are made daily. If you love chocolate, try the Double Chocolate Cake. They also have fun Cobbler cups or the Molten Spiced Chocolate. There is so much to try here that you might find yourself going back every night to try something new.
