Weddings in the Area

Many brides are looking for a Beach Wedding or one of the many types of Outdoor Weddings available here in Saint Augustine, however there are a variety of elegant indoor venues for Weddings, as well. These locations offer everything from Intimate Weddings to large-scale, sophisticated events.
The Lightner Museum is housed in a historical hotel building in downtown St. Augustine. The former Hotel Alcazar, built in 1887 and commissioned by Henry Flager, was designed with Spanish Renaissance architecture to appeal to wealthy visitors to the area. The Lightner Museum is a stunning place for wedding ceremonies, accommodating from 50 to 400 guests. The former indoor swimming pool of the hotel affords an elegant location for dancing, and the museum's exhibits create a magnificent backdrop for your special event.
The Mission of Nombre de Dios has been a part of St Augustine since 1565, when Pedro Menendez de Aviles proclaimed this site for Spain and the Church. It was here that the first parish Mass was held and the work at America's first Mission was started. Weddings can be held at the small chapel at the Mission of Nombre de Dios, accommodating up to 30 guests for Intimate Weddings, but must be coordinated through the Cathedral-Basilica.
Castle Otttis was originally created as a landscape sculpture as an impression of an Irish castle from over a millennium ago. The interior was built and designed to replicate an Irish Abbey from this timeframe under the guidance of the Catholic Diocese of Northeast Florida. The Castle Otttis is a spectacular location for Intimate Weddings, providing a historic atmosphere for your special day.
The Gonzalez-Alvarez House, known as the Oldest House, is literally the oldest surviving Spanish Colonial home in the state of Florida and has been occupied since the 1600s. Visitors have been touring the Oldest House since 1893 to view evidence of the Spanish, British and American occupations of St. Augustine, and it was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1970. Old House Wedding Rentals include the Oldest House Garden, an ornamental garden with flora from Spanish, British and American colonial periods. The Garden is one of the most popular spots for Weddings, due to the relaxing and private setting it affords.
The Cathedral Basilica was founded in 1565 and is known as America's first parish. The basilica features a 204 high cross, the Beacon of Faith, as well as the Prince of Peace Votive Church and the Blessed Sacrament Chapel on the grounds. The Cathedral Basilica furnishes a magnificent location for Catholic Weddings. The Cathedral Parish handles all wedding ceremonies held at any of the parish sites, including the Cathedral Basilica, St. Benedict the moor Catholic Church, Prince of Peace Votive Church, Shrine Chapel of our Lady of La Leche, and the Rustic Altar on the grounds of the Shrine.
