While you are visiting St. Augustine for our wonderful Holiday Lights and Christmas Spirit, what better time is there to start or finish your holiday shopping? Follow along as we give you some fabulous ways to get your shopping done at some of the quaint, out-of-the-way shops in St. Augustine! This is a very busy time for us, so be sure that you get your reservation in early for one of our wonderful Bed & Breakfast Inns
Our first idea for you is St. Augustine’s Historic Walking Tours’ Holiday Shopping & Wine Experience! A fun way to find around 15 wonderful shops that are off the beating track. There are three separate wine tastings that are included in the shopping and your tour ends with dessert and wine or coffee. A portion of the proceeds will go towards gifts and Christmas dinner for a needy St. Augustine family. Each shop gives an exclusive discount to tour guests on the day of the tour and the following day! Check with your Bed & Breakfast Innkeeper for a special discount just for staying at one of the St. Augustine Historic Inns. For more information Click Here!
Now, we’ll give you some unique places to do some shopping on your own. Lets start this off right by stopping by the Kookaburra on Cathedral St. for a great cup of hot chocolate. On Friday & Saturday you can sample their hot chocolate bar, their signature hot chocolate with 15 scrumptious toppings. It’s incredibly tasty! Now, let’s find some great places to shop!
Art Galleries – You probably are thinking… “I really don’t want to spend that much money on Aunt Martha.”. But you’ll be amazed at the prices of some of the jewelry, prints and other art pieces by some of our local artists that are displayed and sold at the local art galleries. There are so many to choose from. Check the listing here for a list and a map of the galleries. One of our favorites is Metalartz on Hypolita St.
Bath Junkie – 63 Hypolita St. – Lotions, creams, bath scrubs, bath jells and bubble baths all designed by you. A great personal gift. You pick the product, scent and color.
Gifted Gourmet – 58 Spanish St – Great, unique gifts for the cook or barbeque king or queen on your list. Fun whimsical gifts and practical ones, too. Be sure to check out the selection of cheeses in the back of the store. Oh, my! That’s a fantastic gift on its own. Then be sure to check out their sister store, The Gifted Cork @ 64 Hypolita St, for the wine lover on your list. You’ll find incredible boutique wines and wonderful wine gifts for everyone.
Hot Stuff Mon – 34 1/2 Treasury St – has everything that you need for that person that loves the heat! And I mean the kind that you eat! Ask the owner of the store about anything hot! She can help you out. And while you are here you can grab a frozen slice of Key Lime Pie dunked in Chocolate for yourself. Yummy!
House of Z Sea Glass Gallery – 65B St. George St – We normally won’t put you on St. George St, but this is a quaint little place that you should check out. It’s no bigger than a closet, but the couple that owns this shop travel up and down the east coast of the US collecting sea glass. It is not altered from the way they find it on the beach and then it’s made into the most beautiful jewelry.
Starving Artist – 28 Cuna St – This artist consignment shop has wonderful gifts for everyone. You will love all of the unique items and you can find everything from paintings, jewelry and sculpture to locally made perfumes and Christmas ornaments.
Spice and Tea Exchange – 59 Hypolita St – Something more for the one on your list that loves to cook or maybe a great new tea for them to try. You will be the hit of Christmas with gifts from this shop.
Cottonways – 56 Hypolita St – The cotton gauze clothing you’ll find at Cottonways offers nearly maintenance-free, comfortable fashions. The clothing is both washer and dryer safe, will not shrink, and no ironing is necessary.
The Pearl Shop – 14 St. George Street is actually located in an arcade just off of St George Street. Their jewelry is made on site and you can even pick your own pearls. If you have someone on your list that is a pearl lover, then you have just found their gift!
Isabela’s – 19 Cuna Street – Have a cigar aficionado on your list? Isabela’s offers fine cigars and accesories, humidors, wine and many other unique items. Also located to the side of her shop is Bar Cuba. Stop and have a wonderful craft beer or glass of wine or port. You may even see some familiar faces while you visit.
Well, that should get you started. Also, ask some of the people that you meet at the shops, bars and restaurants in town for suggestions. We all shop in town as well. You will get great deals on fabulous items at the shops in St. Augustine.
