Romantic Honeymoons are St. Augustine's Specialty

The key to pulling off a great romantic honeymoon is all in the couple's attitude. Just about any backdrop will do for the first few days as it's not likely the couple will notice their surroundings. After that, however, keeping the romance alive can really benefit from a great honeymoon location that offers a few fun things to do. St. Augustine, Florida, is one such location.

This city on Florida's east coast is considered the oldest in America. Its rich blend of history and natural beauty make it a winner for romantic vacations. The beaches here are beautiful as is the architecture and the weather. Guests who want a really romantic excursion can stay at any of a number of historic bed and breakfast locations where owners specialize in helping honeymoon couples enjoy their privacy and the sites St. Augustine has to offer.

Even the most romantic honeymoon will find the bride and groom wanting to venture out once in a while, though, and this is where St. Augustine really shines. This city is small, but it offers a little something for everyone. Some of the top sites to visit, include:

* Beaches. Few things are more romantic than a moonlit stroll on the beach. With more than 40 miles of them and even a lighthouse, this city offers the best of the east coast. * Historic district. Here visitors will find the heart of St. Augustine is its history. Beautiful old buildings, an old Spanish fort, museums, re-enactments, restaurants and more await in the city's historic district. Echoes of the past can be felt on nearly every corner in this area where the 1500s come face-to-face with today. Flagler College and the Lightner Museum are worth stops for honeymooners, as well. * Kennedy Space Center. Within driving distance of St. Augustine, this is a great destination for honeymooners who want to get out and learn a little bit, too. It might seem like a boring stop, but even the skeptical will find the center is absolutely fascinating. * Daytona Beach. Also within driving distance, this is one of the kings of Spring Break. Here visitors will find some of the best swim and surf action the state has to offer, coupled with some seriously romantic stops. * Jacksonville. One of Florida's largest cities, this one is within a short drive of St. Augustine. Its more romantic draws include entertainment, dining and more.

With the setting being one of the country's oldest cities that happens to have a backdrop of beaches, complete with lighthouses, St. Augustine is a great romantic getaway for honeymooners and more. Its historic bed and breakfasts often overlook the sea and many come with their own historical lore that has a romantic twist.

St. Augustine is open for honeymooners year round and its hospitality industry is very adept at making couples feel welcomed and special. However, since this is Florida, some of the best times to go are early spring and fall.
