St. Augustine Music Festival offers free summer concerts
It truly is a midsummer night's dream! Six days of free classical music in the gilded - and air-conditioned - splendor of St. Augustine's historic Cathedral Basilica. St. Augustine's only free classical music festival features music from all ages, for all ages. From Bach to Beethoven to Bruch and beyond - including world premieres by new composers. Riveting solo performances, lilting chamber works and energetic orchestral pieces, presented free. Most B&Bs will be offering lower summer rates, so it's a perfect time to visit and enjoy this free and unique St. Augustine treasure. The fourth annual St. Augustine Music Festival series kicks off on Sunday, June 20, with a Family Day Concert at 2 p.m. Subsequent performances, through June 25, are at 7:30 p.m. daily. Programs will include a Juneteeth Celebration featuring the acclaimed Ritz Chamber Players, a piano spectacular of chamber works and Chopin, and a "Back to Bach" concert. Full concert programs and information about the festival, the Cathedral Basilica and helpful Web links are at www.staugustinemusicfestival.org. |
