Flager College is a private, four year liberal arts college located right in the heart of the Old City, a block from Cordova Street. Spanning across 19 beautifully manicured and landscaped acres, Flagler College was established in 1968 and named for Henry Flagler, railroad magnate and prominent Florida developer. Since its founding, the college has spent more than $43 million restoring the historic structures throughout its campus and adding new facilities. The most prominent structure on the campus and the focal point of Flagler College is Ponce de Leon Hall. Ponce de Leon Hall was built in 1888, and operated as the Ponce de Leon Hotel serving a wealthy clientele for many years. The structure was designed by John Carrere and Thomas Hastings, the same duo that designed the Lightner Museum which is located just across the street.
